Dayparting Advanced Settings

A
Written by Adbrew Support

Dayparting Advanced Settings give you additional control over when Dayparting runs and how far it can change your campaign bids, budgets, and placement adjustments.

These settings are especially useful when you want to use Dayparting automation while still keeping campaign values within predefined limits.

What problem do Advanced Settings solve?

Dayparting can automatically adjust campaign settings throughout the day based on the schedule you configure. For example, a strategy may reduce bids during low-performing hours and increase them during stronger hours. Dayparting strategies can use multipliers to make these scheduled adjustments.

However, there may be situations where you do not want these changes to go beyond certain limits.

For example:

  • You may not want a bid to fall below $0.50.

  • You may want to prevent budgets from exceeding a predefined maximum.

  • You may want placement adjustments to remain within an acceptable range.

  • You may want Dayparting to stop temporarily during an important promotional period.

  • You may want Dayparting to run only when campaigns are in specific states.

Advanced Settings allow you to configure these safeguards directly within your Dayparting strategy.

Where can I find Advanced Settings?

Open the required Dayparting strategy and select the Advanced Settings tab.

From here, you can configure:

  1. Skip running Dayparting

  2. State filters

  3. Dayparting change caps

Skip running Dayparting

The Skip running Dayparting setting allows you to specify date ranges during which Dayparting should not make any automated changes to the campaigns linked with the strategy.

Click Add date range and select the period during which you want Dayparting to be skipped.

When is this useful?

This can be helpful during periods such as:

  • Prime Day

  • Black Friday or Cyber Monday

  • Major sale events

  • Product launches

  • Temporary promotional campaigns

During the configured date range, Dayparting automation runs will be skipped for the associated campaigns.

State Filters

State Filters let you restrict Dayparting so that it runs only when the associated campaign is in one of the selected campaign states.

Then select the campaign states on which Dayparting should be allowed to operate.

This gives you additional control over which campaigns Dayparting can modify.

Dayparting Change Caps

Dayparting Change Caps let you define minimum and maximum boundaries for changes made by Dayparting.

Caps are available for:

  • Bid

  • Budget

  • Top-of-Search Placement

  • Product Page Placement

  • Rest-of-Search Placement

A cap section becomes available only when that type of Dayparting adjustment is enabled in the strategy.

Minimum Caps

A minimum cap defines the lowest value Dayparting is allowed to set.

For example, suppose:

Minimum Bid Cap = $0.50

If the Dayparting schedule calculates a new bid of $0.35, Adbrew will prevent the bid from going below $0.50.

The resulting bid will therefore remain at $0.50.

Maximum Caps

A maximum cap defines the highest value Dayparting is allowed to set.

For example:

Maximum Bid Cap = $2.00

If Dayparting calculates a new bid of $2.40, Adbrew will restrict the change to $2.00.

This allows you to use aggressive Dayparting schedules without allowing values to move outside your acceptable range.

Using Absolute Values and Thresholds

When configuring a minimum or maximum cap, you can define the boundary using an absolute value or an available Adbrew threshold.

Absolute Value

Use an absolute value when you want the same fixed limit across the campaigns associated with the Dayparting strategy.

For example:

Minimum Bid = $0.50

Dayparting will never reduce an eligible bid below $0.50.

Threshold-based value

You can also use your configured thresholds as the boundary instead of entering a fixed value.

This allows your Dayparting safeguards to use the thresholds already defined for your organization, account, or campaign.

This is particularly useful when different campaigns require different limits rather than using one fixed value across every campaign.

Example

Suppose a campaign currently has:

  • Bid: $1.00

  • Dayparting multiplier: 0.50x

  • Minimum Bid Cap: $0.70

Without a cap, Dayparting would calculate:

$1.00 × 0.50 = $0.50

However, because the minimum bid cap is $0.70, Adbrew will not allow Dayparting to reduce the bid below that value.

Final Bid = $0.70

The same principle applies to maximum caps and to supported budget and placement changes.

Do Advanced Settings change my Dayparting schedule?

No.

Your Dayparting schedule continues to determine when and how Dayparting attempts to make changes. Advanced Settings act as additional controls around those changes.

Think of your Dayparting schedule as defining the intended adjustment, while the minimum and maximum caps define the boundaries within which that adjustment is allowed.

Do these settings work with Adaptive and Override Dayparting?

Yes. Dayparting strategies can use different conflict resolution modes, including Adaptive. The mode remains part of the strategy configuration.

The Advanced Settings act as safeguards around the resulting Dayparting changes, so configured minimum and maximum limits are respected when applicable.

Example Use Cases

Requirement

Recommended Setting

Never let CPC fall below $0.50

Minimum Bid Cap = $0.50

Never allow CPC above $2.00

Maximum Bid Cap = $2.00

Keep budgets within a predefined range

Minimum and Maximum Budget Caps

Prevent excessive Top-of-Search adjustments

Maximum Top-of-Search Placement Cap

Pause Dayparting during Prime Day

Add the Prime Day dates under Skip running Dayparting

Apply Dayparting only to campaigns in selected states

Enable State Filters

Use campaign-specific limits

Configure caps using the relevant thresholds

Key takeaway

Advanced Settings do not replace your Dayparting strategy. They provide additional safeguards around it.

You can continue using Dayparting to automatically change bids, budgets, and placements throughout the day while ensuring those changes do not go below or above the limits you consider acceptable.
