What happens if I change bids manually while dayparting is active?

The impact of manually adjusting bids during active dayparting depends on the "Conflict Resolution" setting within your dayparting settings, which can be set to either "Override" or "Adaptive."

  • If set to “Override”:

    • Any manual bid change will become the new base bid for the next hour’s dayparting calculation.

    • Example: Suppose at 1 PM, your dayparting has a base bid of $1 with a 0.5x multiplier, making the current bid $0.5. If you manually change this bid to $2, the next hour’s dayparting will use $2 as the new base bid. If the next hour's multiplier is 0.75x, the bid will adjust to $2 * 0.75 = $1.5.

  • If set to “Adaptive”:

    • The dayparting system will adjust according to the active multiplier at the time of the manual change.

    • Example: At 1 PM, your base bid is $1, with a 0.5x multiplier setting the current bid to $0.5. If you manually adjust the bid to $2, dayparting will interpret the new base bid as $2 / 0.5 = $4, applying this in future calculations. If the next hour’s multiplier is 0.75x, the bid will adjust to $4 * 0.75 = $3.

Tip: Use the "Base Bid" column on the Target Analyzer page in Adbrew, which shows the original bid upon which multipliers are applied in dayparting. For controlled bid adjustments, change the base bid directly, and dayparting will adapt automatically based on this new base bid value.
