Adbrew’s Rulesets streamline critical advertising tasks such as bid management, target harvesting, campaign adjustments (including budgets, placements, and modifiers), negative targeting, and Share-of-Voice optimization. Through a blend of pre-built templates and customizable options, users can seamlessly automate key functions. Here’s how to set up and use Adbrew’s Ruleset templates and custom rulesets for maximum efficiency.

Types of Automation in Adbrew

Adbrew's platform provides a suite of automation types, each designed to streamline different aspects of Amazon advertising management.

1. Bid Management Automation

Bid Management Automation allows users to set rules for raising, lowering, or pausing bids based on specific performance criteria. For example, you might increase bids on high-converting keywords with low ACoS or pause bids for underperforming targets. By automating bid adjustments, advertisers can respond quickly to changing performance metrics, ensuring their ad spend is always aligned with goals.

2. Target Harvesting Automation

Target Harvesting Automation is ideal for identifying and moving profitable search terms across different targeting types, such as from Auto campaigns to Exact match campaigns. This automation helps advertisers leverage high-converting terms discovered in discovery campaigns by promoting them to more precise campaigns, improving efficiency.

3. Campaign Management Automation

Campaign Management Automation allows advertisers to set rules to adjust budget, placement modifiers, campaign state, and target ACoS based on performance criteria. This type of automation is essential for managing budget constraints or boosting visibility on top-performing campaigns, adapting to day-to-day changes without manual intervention.

4. Negative Targeting Automation

Negative Targeting Automation helps you exclude non-converting search terms or ASINs from campaigns. By adding these terms as negative keywords or product targets, advertisers can reduce spend on ineffective terms and enhance the relevance of their campaigns, increasing overall ROAS.

5. Share-of-Voice (SOV) Management Automation

Share-of-Voice (SOV) Management Automation enables users to adjust bids based on keyword ranking in sponsored and organic placements. By dynamically modifying bids to achieve a desired rank, advertisers can ensure higher visibility for top-performing keywords. This automation is particularly useful for competitive categories where visibility directly impacts sales.

How to Create a Custom Ruleset from Scratch

Creating a custom Ruleset gives you more control to meet specific campaign needs. Follow these steps to create a Ruleset from scratch:

1. Access Rulesets: Go to the Rulesets page and click +Add New Ruleset.

2. Select Custom Ruleset:

  • In the pop-up, select Create Custom Ruleset.

  • Choose the type of Ruleset you want to create.

3. Choose a ruleset type

Select the type of ruleset that you want to create.

4. Configure basic settings:

  • Enter a name for your Ruleset

  • Toggle automation on to specify a lookback period, run frequency, and start time.

Note:

1. Make sure to check the scheduled date for any rule which has its frequency set to ‘Once’. It will only run if the scheduled time is set in the future (Setting it to the next closest hour also works).

2. Although it is not possible to trigger any ruleset or automation to run manually, you can set the ‘Evaluate’ or ‘Select Date’ to the next closest hour of the same day to set it to run as soon as possible.

5. Customize your ruleset:

  • Add conditions using "+Conditions"

  • Define actions

  • Set min/max thresholds (via Advanced Settings)

  • Add multiple rules as needed

6. Finally, hit the 'save changes' button.

7. Link the campaigns to your rulesets in a manner similar to the one described above.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can we schedule rule sets to run bi-weekly?

While bi-weekly scheduling is not directly available, you can set up weekly rule sets and navigate to the advanced settings of rulesets to skip every other week. This ensures your automation doesn't make changes during those skipped weeks.

Can I create multiple campaign management rulesets and have them active simultaneously?

Yes, you can run multiple campaign management rules simultaneously. For bid management, you can link two rulesets to a campaign—one regular bid ruleset and one one-time bid management rule. This is useful for handling events like Prime Day scaling.

How can I ensure that my scheduled automation runs at the exact specified time?

Automated tasks are subject to slight delays based on server load and Amazon's response times. If your automation is scheduled but hasn’t started at the expected time, allow a buffer of up to 15 minutes. Check the status under the “Scheduled” section on the automation rulesets. For consistent delays, reach out to support to verify any ongoing system issues.

Can automation run on paused campaigns?

Yes, Adbrew's automation can run regardless of the campaign state. Even if the campaign is paused, any active automation settings will still apply to that campaign. If you don’t want to make changes on such campaign, simply remove them from the linked campaigns tab of the rulesets.

What is ‘Associations in this/other accounts?

The Associations (in this account) column indicates the number of Ad groups that are linked to that Ruleset. For organisations with more than one account, the same Ruleset can be used across accounts. Associations (In other Accounts) column indicates the number of ad groups or campaigns across other accounts within the same organisation that are linked to that Ruleset.

Is it possible to create a ruleset with a custom date range, such as using data from the past month or skipping a specific number of days?

The lookback period for a ruleset can be configured using the "Using Data From" dropdown, with the following options available:

  • Last Day

  • Last 3 Days

  • Last 7 Days

  • Last 14 Days

  • Last 30 Days

  • Last 60 Days

  • Last 90 Days

  • Last 120 Days

You can also exclude a specific number of recent days:

  • Latest Day

  • Last 2 Days

  • Last 3 Days

Please note that selecting a dynamic or custom date range, such as the past month or November 2023 - December 2023, is currently not supported when configuring the lookback period in a ruleset.
