We've expanded Bid Automation Rulesets with powerful new attributes that let you build smarter, context-aware bidding strategies.
In addition to the existing target-level attributes, you can now use Target Type and Campaign-level performance metrics directly within your bid rules.
What's New?
1. Target Type Attribute
You can now create rules based on the type of target instead of creating separate rulesets for different targeting methods.
Supported Target Types include:
Auto - Close Match
Auto - Loose Match
Auto - Substitutes
Auto - Complements
Keyword - Exact
Keyword - Phrase
Keyword - Broad
Product Targeting
Category Targeting
Example
Pause aggressive bidding only for Auto Close Match targets.
IF Target Type = Auto - Close Match AND Target ACOS > 60% THEN Decrease Current Bid by 20%
2. Campaign-Level Attributes
Rules can now reference campaign performance while evaluating individual targets.
This enables relative bidding decisions instead of relying only on fixed thresholds.

Use Campaign Metrics in Rule Values
Campaign metrics are available not only as rule attributes, but also inside the Value dropdown.
This allows you to compare target performance against campaign performance dynamically.
For example:
IF Target ACOS > Campaign ACOS × 1.5 THEN Decrease Current Bid by 20%
Or,
IF Target CPC > Campaign CPC × 1.25 THEN Decrease Current Bid by 10%
Or,
IF Target Conversion Rate < Campaign Conversion Rate × 0.5 THEN Pause Target
Why This Matters
Instead of using static thresholds such as:
Pause targets with ACOS greater than 50%
you can now create rules that automatically adapt to the campaign's own performance.
For example:
Reduce bids only when a target's ACOS is significantly worse than the campaign average.
Increase bids only when a target is outperforming the campaign.
Treat targets differently based on whether they belong to Auto, Keyword, or Product Targeting.
Build reusable rulesets that work across campaigns with different performance baselines.
These new attributes make bid automation far more flexible and allow rules to make decisions based on the context of each campaign, rather than fixed numbers alone.
