Managing advertising budgets across multiple campaigns and time periods can become difficult when spend needs to follow a predefined plan.
Campaigns may spend faster or slower than expected, budget priorities may vary across different days, and manually adjusting campaign budgets makes it harder to stay aligned with the overall target.
Budget Planner helps you plan, allocate, and monitor advertising budgets across campaigns for a defined period.
It allows you to define how much you want to spend, control how that budget is distributed over time, allocate it across campaigns, and adjust future spending based on actual performance.
With Budget Planner, you can:
Define budgets for specific planning periods.
Distribute budget across days based on expected demand or business priorities.
Allocate the available budget across multiple campaigns.
Monitor planned budget against actual spend.
Automatically rebalance future budgets when campaigns under-spend or over-spend.
This gives you centralized control over budget pacing while helping your campaigns stay aligned with the overall spending plan.
Creating a Budget Plan
Click Create New Plan to create a Budget Plan.
The setup is divided into the following steps:
Configure Plan
Configure Schedule
Linked Campaigns
Advanced Settings
Step 1: Configure Plan
Start by entering a Plan Name and selecting the period for which you want to manage your budget.
You can use predefined date ranges such as:
This Week
This Month
Next Month
Next 30 Days
Next 90 Days
Next 1 Year
You can also select your own date range.
Budget schedules are based on the timezone configured for your advertising account.
Select a Schedule Type
Schedule Type determines how Adbrew divides the overall date range into individual budget periods.
Available schedule types include:
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
Custom
Monthly Schedule Example
Suppose you select:
October 1 to December 31
and choose Monthly as the Schedule Type.
Adbrew will generate three schedules:
October 1 to October 31
November 1 to November 30
December 1 to December 31
You can then assign a separate budget to each schedule.
For example:
Schedule | Budget |
October | $30,000 |
November | $40,000 |
December | $50,000 |
This is useful when you have a quarterly budget but want to control how much is spent during each month.
Note: Selecting a Monthly schedule does not limit budget management to the monthly level. You can still control the daily budget allocation within each month from the Configure Schedule screen.
Weekly Schedule
If you choose Weekly, Adbrew divides the selected period into weekly schedules.
This is useful when your planned spend varies from week to week.
Daily Schedule
If you choose Daily, each day becomes its own schedule. This gives you direct control over the budget assigned to every individual day.
Custom Schedule
Custom schedules allow you to manually define your own date ranges.
This can be useful for events or promotional periods that do not follow standard daily, weekly, or monthly intervals.
Allocate a Budget
Enter the total budget you want to assign to each schedule.
Every schedule must have a budget greater than zero before the plan can be created.
For example:
Schedule: October 1 to October 31
Budget: $30,000
Once the plan is created, Adbrew initially distributes the $30,000 evenly across the days in October.
You can customize this distribution in the next step.
Once a plan has been created, its Schedule Type and overall Schedule Range cannot be changed. You can still modify supported settings within the existing schedules.
Step 2: Configure Schedule
The Configure Schedule section lets you control how the budget within each schedule is distributed across individual days.
By default, the budget assigned to a schedule is divided evenly across all days.
For example:
October Budget: $31,000
Number of Days: 31
Default daily allocation:
$31,000 ÷ 31 = $1,000 per day
Each day's allocation can also be represented as a percentage of the schedule budget.
In this example:
100% ÷ 31 ≈ 3.23% per day
You can change these daily allocations based on your expected demand.
For example, you may want to allocate more budget to:
Weekends
Sale periods
Product launches
High-conversion days
Promotional events
You may allocate less budget to days where you expect lower demand.
This daily control is available regardless of whether the original Schedule Type is Weekly, Monthly, or Custom.
Schedule Metrics
Allocated Budget
The total budget assigned to the schedule.
Actual Spend %
Shows how much of the complete schedule budget has already been spent.
Formula:
Actual Spend % = Actual Spend ÷ Total Schedule Budget × 100
For example:
Schedule Budget = $30,000
Actual Spend = $12,000
$12,000 ÷ $30,000 × 100 = 40%
Actual Spend = 40%
This value can exceed 100% if actual spend exceeds the schedule budget.
Remaining Planned Spend %
Shows the portion of the total schedule budget that remains after actual spend.
Formula:
Remaining Planned Spend % = 100% - Actual Spend %
If Actual Spend is 40%, Remaining Planned Spend is 60%.
Total Sum %
Shows the percentage of the schedule budget currently distributed across its days.
The total daily allocation across the schedule should equal 100%.
Editing Daily Allocations
You can increase or decrease the allocation assigned to future days.
For example, your October budget might be $30,000, but you may decide to allocate:
More budget during a promotional week
Higher budget on weekends
Lower budget during lower-performing days
Allocations for the current day and previous days are locked because their budget execution has already started or completed.
This allows you to adjust upcoming spend without changing historical allocations.
Step 3: Linked Campaigns
Once the schedule has been configured, select the campaigns that should use the Budget Plan.
Click Add Campaigns and select the campaigns you want Budget Planner to manage.
You can then control how the available daily budget is distributed across those campaigns.
Campaign Allocation %
Campaign Allocation determines what percentage of the available daily plan budget should be assigned to each campaign.
For example, suppose the available plan budget for today is: $1,000
and you have two campaigns:
Campaign | Allocation |
Campaign A | 60% |
Campaign B | 40% |
The effective allocation becomes:
Campaign A: $600
Campaign B: $400
The combined campaign allocation should total 100%.
Adbrew also provides an Even Allocation option to distribute allocation evenly across campaigns.
For example, if four campaigns are selected, each campaign can be assigned 25%.
Minimum Budget
You can configure a minimum budget for individual campaigns.
This helps ensure that specific campaigns receive a minimum level of budget even when the overall daily plan budget changes.
Adbrew will also warn you if a campaign's calculated daily budget falls below the minimum budget supported by the marketplace.
Campaign Conflicts
A campaign cannot be managed by two Budget Plans covering the same dates.
If you attempt to link a campaign that is already included in another Budget Plan with overlapping dates, Adbrew will skip that campaign and notify you.
This prevents two different plans from attempting to manage the same campaign budget at the same time.
Step 4: Advanced Settings
Automatically Rebalance Budget
Enable Automatically Rebalance Budget if you want Adbrew to dynamically account for differences between planned and actual spend.
Actual campaign spend may not always exactly match the budget planned for a particular day.
When Automatically Rebalance Budget is enabled, Budget Planner can:
Use budget that was not fully spent on previous days
Adjust future budgets to account for overspend
Redistribute budget across the remaining schedule where required
This helps keep actual spend closer to the overall budget target for the schedule.
Change History
Use the Change History section to review changes made through Budget Planner.
You can access the overall Budget Planner Change History or view changes associated with a specific Budget Plan while editing it.
This helps you track how budget configurations have changed over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I create separate monthly budgets for a quarter?
Yes.
For example, you can select October 1 to December 31 and choose Monthly as the Schedule Type.
Adbrew will generate separate schedules for October, November, and December, and you can assign a different budget to each month.
If I choose a Monthly schedule, can I still control daily budgets?
Yes.
Monthly determines how the overall plan is divided into budget periods.
From Configure Schedule, you can still control how each month's budget is allocated across individual days.
Can I change the total budget after creating a plan?
Yes. You can update the allocated budget for existing schedules.
Can I change the Schedule Type after creating a plan?
No.
The Schedule Type and overall Schedule Range are locked once the Budget Plan has been created.
Does Adbrew automatically divide the schedule budget?
Yes.
When the plan is first created, each schedule's budget is distributed evenly across its days by default.
You can customize the daily distribution afterward from Configure Schedule.
Can I manually control how much budget is allocated to each day?
Yes.
You can change allocations for future days from the Configure Schedule section.
Can one campaign be included in multiple Budget Plans?
A campaign cannot be linked to multiple Budget Plans when their schedule dates overlap.
What happens if campaigns do not spend their entire planned budget?
If Automatically Rebalance Budget is enabled, Adbrew can account for unused budget and adjust future budget allocation accordingly.
What happens if campaigns spend more than planned?
When automatic rebalancing is enabled, Adbrew can adjust future budgets to account for overspend and help keep the overall schedule closer to its planned budget.
Why does Delivery Rate differ from Budget Usage?
Budget Usage compares spend against the entire schedule budget.
Delivery Rate compares spend against only the budget that was planned to be spent up to the current date.
For an active schedule, Delivery Rate is therefore a better indicator of whether spend is currently pacing according to plan.
