The Text Block Widget allows you to add text commentary or AI-generated summaries directly to your dashboard. It helps provide context, insights, and executive-level reporting alongside data visualizations.

Key Capabilities

  1. Static Text Commentary

    • Add your own notes, analysis, or context directly.

    • Supports Markdown formatting for better readability.

    • Useful for executive summaries, agency reports, or team communication.

  2. AI-Generated Summaries

    • Automatically generate summaries from selected widgets.

    • Add Additional Instructions to customize the tone, format, or focus of the summary.

    • Each account in a shared dashboard will get a unique AI summary based on its data.

3. Integration with Account Context

  • You can configure Account Context separately at the account level.

  • When generating AI summaries or text blocks, the context you set (e.g., shipment delays, promotions, budget changes) will be applied automatically to produce more accurate and relevant summaries.

How to Add a Text Block Widget

  1. Click Add Widget on your dashboard.

  2. Select Text Block Widget.

  3. Enter a Name for your widget (e.g., Executive Summary, Key Insights).

You now have two options:

Option 1: Add Static Text

  1. Toggle Generate with AI → OFF.

  2. Write your commentary in the text editor.

    • The editor supports Markdown:

      • **bold**bold

      • *italic*italic

      • - or * for bullet points

      • 1. 2. 3. for numbered lists

      • [link text](url) for hyperlinks

  3. Click Confirm to save.

Best for: Custom notes, strategy highlights, or static instructions that don’t need updates.

Option 2: Generate with AI

  1. Toggle Generate with AI → ON.

  2. Select the Widget(s) you want summarized.

    • Only works with static date widgets.

    • Dynamic date widgets are not supported (summaries would quickly become outdated).

  3. (Optional) Add Additional Instructions to refine the output. Examples:

    • “Summarize in two sections: Highlights and Lowlights.”

    • “Focus on advertising spend efficiency.”

    • “Write in a professional, executive-friendly tone.”

  4. Click Confirm to save.

Best for: Automated reporting, quick performance summaries, and account-level insights.

After Adding the Widget

  • You can:

    • Edit the widget anytime (switch between AI + static text).

    • Refresh the AI-generated summary with the refresh button.

    • Use the source dropdown to see which widgets are linked.

  • Shared Dashboards:

    • AI summaries → Generated uniquely per account.

    • Static text → Visible only in the account where it was added (other accounts see an empty text block that can be customized).

Limitations

  • Works only with static-date widgets.

  • AI summaries do not auto-update in real-time. They must be refreshed manually.

  • If dashboards are shared, static text does not carry across accounts (each account must add its own).

Example Use Cases

  • Executive Reporting:
Provide high-level summaries (e.g., “Sales grew by 12% last quarter, driven by SKU A and B.”).

  • Agency Reporting:
Deliver tailored commentary for each client account without duplicating dashboards.

  • Team Dashboards:
Add context to performance trends, call out anomalies, or highlight next steps.
