What is Category and Product Group Report Report?
Category and sub-category (Product) report is the aggregated product performance reporting which helps in tracking the performance of individual categories within an account. Adbrew aggregates all the performance metrics - both PPC (Ad Spend, Ad, Sales, ACOS, etc.) and Organic (Total Sales, TACOS, etc.) for the selected products and displays it in form of these reports.
These reports make it easier for you to identify the categories which are performing well and not so that you know where to focus on. You can click on any category or product group to dive deep and look at the performance of individual ASINs within that group.
An example of Categories and Product Groups are - If you're a consumer electronics brand, Categories for you could be - Headphones, Speakers, Cameras, Computer Accessories, etc. Sub-categories (Product) could be - Wireless Headphones, Wired Headphones, 10W Speakers, 20W Speakers, 30W Speakers, etc.
Here is how Category and Product Group reporting appears on the Dashboard -
How to configure Categories and Product Groups in Adbrew?
You can define categories and product groups in Adbrew using Product Labels. This can be done from the Products Explorer page.
There are two ways to configure Product Labels in Adbrew -
Using Bulk Action: To add Labels to your products, you need to select the products and click on the Actions button as shown in the image.
After clicking on the Actions button, a drop-down will appear which will consist of the following actions. Choose Add Label and select Category, Product Label, or Custom label. Give an appropriate name as per your use case.
Provided that you followed the steps correctly, Labels will be added to the products you've selected. You can head over to the Dashboard to view the aggregated reporting.
Using CSV Import: You can also define these category and product group labels using CSV Import. This method is handy when you have a huge number of ASINs and the categorization is already done in an Excel or CSV sheet.
Click on the 3 dots on the Product Explorer page and select Import ASIN data action.
3. When you click on Import ASIN Data, a sample CSV file will be downloaded. Fill the columns as stated and upload the file.
Once you've uploaded the file, labels will be added to your products and you can view the reporting on the Dashboard.
Note: Using a CSV to upload labels will only add to the existing labels. It does not replace the current labels. To replace all the labels, select and delete the existing labels from the Labels page under Campaign Management menu and then upload the new labels.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the purpose of using category and sub-category labels in Adbrew?
Category and sub-category labels allow you to group similar products for easy performance tracking. For example, if you’re a home decor brand, you can label products like "paintings," "vases," and "clocks" to track each category’s overall performance. You can also use sub-category labels to analyze performance at a more specific level, like "abstract paintings" within the "paintings" category.
2. How do I add a category or custom label to a product in Adbrew?
To add a label:
Go to the Product Explorer page.
Select the product(s) you want to label.
Click on the Action button and choose Add Label from the drop-down.
Choose the type of label (category, sub-category, or custom).
Enter the label name and click Add Label.
Alternatively, you can bulk-import labels by uploading a CSV file with ASIN and label details.
3. Can I add labels to multiple products at once?
Yes, Adbrew supports bulk label imports:
On the Product Explorer page, click on the three-dot icon on the right.
Select Import ASIN Data and download the CSV sample.
Add ASIN, SKU, category, sub-category, and custom labels in the required columns.
Save and upload the file to apply labels in bulk.
4. What are custom labels, and when should I use them?
Custom labels help you organize products by criteria other than their category or sub-category. For example, you can create a custom label for "Top 10 Products," "Prime Day Deals," or "Low Inventory" to track performance for specific product sets that don't fall into standard categories.
5. How can I view the performance of labeled products or campaigns?
Once labels are added, you can view aggregated performance metrics on the Dashboard. This includes metrics like sales, ACOS, and spend at the category or sub-category level, making it easy to assess each group’s effectiveness and identify where to focus your efforts.
6. How do campaign labels differ from product labels?
Product labels categorize items based on their type (e.g., paintings or clocks), while campaign labels allow you to group campaigns for similar products. This helps you analyze performance across campaigns by product type. Campaign labels include Sponsored Brand data, as they group campaigns rather than individual products.
7. Can I filter search terms or other data based on campaign labels?
Yes, you can filter data by campaign labels:
Go to the Search Term page and click Filter.
Select Campaign Label from the filter options, choose the operator (like "is"), and pick the label.
This filter will show search terms associated only with campaigns that have the specified label.
8. How do I remove a label from a product or campaign?
To remove labels:
Select the product or campaign, click on Action, and choose Remove Labels.
Select the type of label to remove (category, sub-category, or custom).
Choose the labels you want to remove and confirm.
For bulk removal across all items with a specific label, choose Remove Labels without selecting individual products or campaigns.
9. Does the product label report include Sponsored Brand data?
No, product label reports exclude Sponsored Brand data because Sponsored Brand ads usually feature multiple products from various categories, which would skew the aggregated data.
10. Can I filter search terms or other data based on product labels?
No, you can’t filter search terms or other data based on product labels. This is because a single campaign often contains multiple products, and Amazon does not provide search term or target data at the individual product level within a multi-product ad group. For this reason, campaign label filtering is typically more effective and is supported in Adbrew.
11. Is it possible to bulk label campaigns?
Yes, campaign labels can be added in bulk. Navigate to the campaign manager page, click on the three-dot menu, and select “Bulk update campaign.” Download the CSV template to understand the supported format, organize the CSV with your campaign and label data, and upload it back to Adbrew.
12. How do I get a combined label-wise sales report?
Navigate to the Labels Report tab on your dashboard. Within this tab, you’ll find separate sections for Category Labels and Sub-Category Labels where you can view combined sales data by label. Please note that reporting is currently available only for category and sub-category labels, and not for custom campaign labels. Make sure your campaigns are configured with these labels to access detailed, label-wise reporting.
