AMC rule-based lookalike audiences allow you to create an audience of consumers that express similar characteristics to a seed audience.

Lookalike audiences are an extension of the current AMC rule-based audiences functionality. Using the same query language and tables as rule-based audiences, you can define the seed audience from which AMC will model the lookalike audience.

A lookalike audience is an audience that “looks like” the seed audience. This allows you to create audiences similar to your top customers and further expand your reach.

Lookalike audience reach

When creating a lookalike audience, you’ll be able to set the approximate population size. You have the flexibility to customize the model based on degree of similarity, ranging from Most similar to Most broad. This allows you to control the lookalike audience according to your objectives for accuracy and size. Opting for Most similar results in a lookalike audience closely resembling the seed audience, but it will be smaller in size. Conversely, choosing Most broad means that the lookalike audience may exhibit less average similarity to the seed, but with greater scalability. The options include:

  • Most similar: Builds a lookalike audience that has a population most similar to the seed.

  • Similar: Builds a lookalike audience that has a population similar to the seed. This audience also includes the "Most similar" lookalike population.

  • Balanced: Builds a lookalike audience with a population that is a balance between being similar to the seed and being broader. This audience also includes "Similar" and "Most similar" lookalike population.

  • Broad: Builds a lookalike audience with a population that’s broader than the Balanced. This audience also includes "Most similar," "Similar," and "Balanced" lookalike populations.

  • Most broad: Builds the largest lookalike audience with a population that is the broadest. This audience also includes "Most similar," "Similar," "Balanced," and "Broad" lookalike populations.

Once created, the lookalike audience will be configured to automatically refresh weekly.
